  • Friday Night Peoples Choice
Back from last year, we had a lot of fun with the public on this event and raised quite a bit of $ for the fire/rescue squad. They want to do this again and we'll work on refining the crowd problems we had last year... Our main complaint last year is that the judges expected more meat for their money... so we plan to solve that by giving them a free pulled pork sandwich with each donation.

  • Friday Evening Side and Dessert Competition
Many teams were dismayed when we dropped the side and dessert competition on Friday evening in favor of the Peoples Choice. Well, we don't want any more unhappy chefs than we have to, so we'll reinstate this event this year. More details to come

  • More Electricity
Again this year we'll add new electric drops, hoping to stay ahead of the demand. We got by for the most part last year but with rigs getting larger each season, and always the possibility(??) of cold nights, we'll add more power for 2007. Late sign ups will be assigned spaces on the East side of Vine St (the main street) where we have excess electricity available.

  • Other Side Awards
We will continue the Two-Peat and Three-Peat awards again this year, along with the best new team at the CIBR.

New this year will be a cash prize for the best overall Illinois team based on total KCBS scores in the six 2007 KSBC contests held in Illinois prior to the CIBR and including your CIBR scores. Enter as many Illinois contests this year as possible to build up your points for this award.
See additional details on this award.
  • Kids Q - We did screw this up last year and will get it right this year. Ribbons for all, and we'll get the times right.
  • Not-Quite-Ready-for-Prime-Time BBQ Teams
Back by popular demand will be our Thrill of the Grill Amateur Competition!
Details are still being worked out with a sponsor but we will have an amateur division competition again this year! Check back here regularly for information and registration details as we make them up!
  • Downtown Outdoor Beer Garden with live stage entertainment Friday evening 5pm-1am and Sat, noon to midnight. We will be tightening up on walking around with open alcohol this year, but at the same time going to provide another venue for your entertainment.
  • Lastly, perfect October weather is scheduled for this weekend. We're done with the wind and cold, we're due for one of those perfect weekends. This year! Don't miss it!
